Castaway Cay is Disney’s private Island in the Bahamas. If you have ever dreamed about a true tropical paradise, this is it! White beaches, blue water, free food, fun at every turn, characters, drinks and more! And true to Disney, it is impeccably decorated with fun details to look for all over the island (including underwater). Here are some of the things you can’t miss on Castaway Cay!

1. Castaway Cay 5K

Calling all runners, walkers and anyone who loves a cool medal! Castaway Cay offers a FREE 5K for anyone 10 and older! I couldn’t think of a better souvenir than a medal!! Ask about the race as soon as you board the boat on embarkation day and you will be directed to sign ups!

2. Castaway Cay’s Family Beach

There are actually two family beach area. The first beach area is in front of a water play area and the snorkeling lagoon. The second is on around the bend and in front of Pelican’s Plunge water slide. Both of these beaches are family friendly, close to restrooms, food, bars and shopping.

3. Castaway Cay’s Serenity Bay

This is the adults only beach. I found this to be the most beautiful spot on the Island. White beaches for days and blue water as far as the eye can see. There are hammocks, lounge chairs, massage cabanas and beach cabanas. There is also a smaller place to eat and a bar.

4. Castaway Cay’s Scuttle’s Cove

Scuttles Cove is the kids club on the island. Know that your children are well supervised and having fun while you spend some time on the adults only beach, in the water snorkeling, or napping under a palm tree!

5. Castaway Cay’s Hideout

The Hideout is the teen only area on the island. This area will always have 2 young adult counselors and includes things like volleyball, music, table tennis, etc. They also have organized activities all through the day. Check your navigator on Castaway Cay day for scheduling.

6. Castaway Cay’s Spring-A-Leak

Spring-A-Leak is a splash pad for littles or not so littles to play in the water away from the ocean! It is located behind the beach sports and bike rentals.

7. Castaway Cay’s Beach Sports and More

Castaway Cay

If you are not a beach or ocean person, don’t fear! There is so much for you to do too! In the Beach Sports area there is Tetherball, Volleyball and Soccer. In-Da-Shade games offers Basketball, Billiards, Ping Pong and more. And there are several miles of bike trails on the island so rent a bike and explore!

8. Castaway Cay’s Snorkeling Lagoon

Do you want to get face to face with Crush or find some hidden Mickey’s? The snorkel lagoon is the place for that! Snorkeling gear can be rented on the island or you can bring your own! The water is clean and beautiful at Castaway Cay. You don’t want to miss the world underneath the water!

9. Marge’s Barges and Sea Charters Dock

This area is located on the left, just after getting off the boat. If you have signed up for any excursions, this is the place to check in! Some of the options are snorkeling with Sting Rays, parasailing, glass bottom boats. fishing and more!

10. Castaway Cay Food and Drinks

The lunch is free on Castaway Cay! It is a BBQ buffet that offers meat, veggies, dessert and tons of fruit! It can be found at Cookie’s BBQ, Cookie’s Too BBQ and Serenity Bay BBQ and opens at 11:30. The sodas, tea, lemonade and water are also complimentary. If you have food allergies your server will take your order the night before and instruct you on which restaurant to pick it up. There are multiple bars and specialty snack shops throughout the island. These are for purchase and are not complimentary.

11. Castaway Cay’s Massage Cabanas

Picture this……listening to the waves crash, smelling the tropical scents, feeling the warm breezes and getting a massage! Yep, you can book massages on Castaway Cay! Book early to secure your spot!

12. Castaway Shuttle

The shuttle runs to 4 points on the island. It starts at the boat with stops at Scuttles Cove, Pelican Point and Serenity Bay. You can also walk from point to point, but these is a nice option to get from place to place quicker!

13. Castaway Cay Shopping

You can’t leave Castaway Cay without a souvenir! The Castaway Cay souvenirs are only offered on the island, so you can only purchase them there and no where else! There is also a Bahamian Retail shop that offers authentic Bahamian items. One cool souvenir is either a post card or a message in a bottle. This can be purchased in one of the shops and mailed from the Castaway Cay Post Office.

12. Characters

There are opportunities to interact with characters on and off all day on Castaway Cay! My favorite part was the dance party with Goofy and Pluto! Check the Navigator for a schedule of character appearances.

Castaway Cay is truly a tropical paradise. It is full of fun and adventure for the whole family! Most Caribbean and Bahamian cruises stop here and it’s not to be missed!! Make sure you check your Navigator before getting off the boat so that you don’t miss a thing. Then plan to spend every minute on this beautiful island!!
